One day, the forest floor is undisturbed and bare – the next day, a community of mushrooms has formed in the same place. This overnight growth in fungus is called puhpowee, an indigenous word to describe mushrooms’ nighttime proliferation. It’s truly amazing to see mushrooms growing in a place where, only a day before, there had been nothing but soil and grass.
The world of mushrooms is fascinating and diverse, much like people. Puhpowee is just one of their amazing abilities, and I hope to write more about their talents. Until next time!
