Solace in a Time of Drought & Doubt

Posted on August 13, 2021February 6, 2025

This summer has been one of intense heat, drought, and extreme weather. Wildfires have been very prevalent in British Columbia, yet in Europe severe flooding is happening. This weather, on top of the ongoing pandemic, builds on our stresses and makes everything seem tense and scary. It’s hard to focus on the positives and the present sometimes, but my photography helps me to slow down, take a deep breath, and concentrate on my subject in the now. Here are some of my photos that provide a sense of solace in these crazy times and invite the viewer to slow down, take a deep breath, and relax.

The past couple years have been full of stress, loss, and turbulent emotions. But when in doubt, it always helps to step outside in the forest, take a breath of fresh air, and remember what we’re all a part of.

It’s always nice to hang out in the forest and enjoy the incredible surroundings. Your photos are excellent!

Thank you, Dad. I think I inherited your love of photography – and your photographer’s eye!
