Miniscule Wonders

Posted on January 14, 2022January 30, 2025

It never ceases to amaze me. I know nature is persistent in its advocacy for life finding a way, but it’s one thing to know that, and another to see it. Whenever I find myself beside a tree or a branch, I take a minute to study its bark, noticing the tiny lichens, slime moulds, fungi, and everything in between nestled in the folds of the wood. Even when I go outside to throw a stick for my dog, I sometimes pause to look at the tiny wonders on it, much to her annoyance.

Here’s some recent photos of the many hidden wonders that seem just out of reach – until you know where to look.

I would say the ponderosa twig has a structure mimicking the shape of an eye. This could be a clue on how nature draws upon itself through the evolution of time.
