Candid Shots

Posted on January 24, 2022January 30, 2025

My dog, Freya, is oblivious to my taking photos of her, but she’s photogenic at heart. I know more than a few dogs whose eyes are eerily humanlike, and Freya’s no exception. Recently I entered a picture of her (first photo) in a contest hosted by PAWS, our local animal shelter, and she won the dog section!

I’ve been taking more photos of her (as mentioned in an earlier blog post, Animalia) and I thought to share them. Here’s a collection of Freya, from anything to eyes to whiskers to snout.

Congratulations Hazel! A well-deserved award. It’s wonderful seeing Freya in all these different shots. I can’t wait to meet her!

Fantastic shots! An average dog’s nose has over 300 million olfactory receptors compared to human’s 6 million and their nose pattern is unique to each dog similar to a fingerprint!

Thanks, Gramps! Dogs’ senses are truly incredible, I agree.
