Encased in Ice

Posted on February 7, 2022January 30, 2025

A veil of ice, thick and dotted with air bubbles, coats branches, eaves, cement – if you’re not careful, you’ll quickly be reminded of it with unsure or careless footing. The ice mentions in cold teeth hanging from roofs that winter is not yet over, and there is still cold to come. I brush off its chilly promises and instead find beauty in the way it drips over twigs, lacquers everything it touches in a frosted polish.
