Spring Flowers

Posted on May 25, 2023January 30, 2025

As the saying goes, “April showers bring May flowers”. The renewing spring rains that we’ve had this year have ensured a green, vibrant transition into summer, complete with brilliant blossoms of wildflowers.

Though there is beauty in all flowers, I find the most joy in discovering miniscule ones: alpine forget-me-not, shooting star, bearberry (also known as uva ursi or kinnikinnick), fairy slipper, prince’s pine, twinflower. I love discovering these hidden gems and identifying them, greeting familiar faces and meeting new ones.

There’s something inherently gentle and innocent about wildflowers; and yet they hold enough gumption to push through rocky soil, break out into the open air, burst into bloom. I admire that tenacious vulnerability.
