My favourite time of day is when sunset melts into twilight, the stars come out, and darkness sets in. I used to be frightened of the dark when I was younger (and I’ll admit, even now it can seem a bit intense and intimidating), but now I find a magical, mysterious beauty in it that daytime just can’t imitate.
When my dad and I were driving back from our Vancouver trip, we were driving as the dusk got bolder, and I couldn’t resist getting photos of the striking sunset and enigmatic crepuscule scenes we drove through.
It’s difficult to get sharp, clear images of these in-between times (low lighting can really throw a curveball to photographers), but I think that’s what makes photography all the more rewarding – the challenge and the compensation. It takes motivation, dedication, and creativity, but I try not to take it too seriously. Of course photography requires a certain level of sincerity – I acknowledge that and try to have fun in the process, too.
