Summers don’t really feel complete without enjoying the warm, sunset-painted evenings on a bike. Since I was young I’ve biked with my family after supper in the summers, where frog choruses and robin-song serenaded the rhythmic music of our pedalling and wormwood sage and wild rose bushes filled the air with their sun-warmed fragrances.
The past few summers, my mom, stepdad, dog, and I have been venturing down to a nearby flat, quiet road reminiscent of Alberta’s sleepy gravel paths that cross the countryside. It’s a different area with entirely different surroundings, but somehow it still brings that nostalgic aftertaste of those summer evening bike rides that filled my childhood.

Hi Hazel, Lovely shots and so good to get on your bike in the evening too.. I miss riding on country roads. David and I did take our bikes to Stanley Park a couple weeks ago and rode the sea wall, which was just great. Now, it is heating up here, and we did cycle to Joel’s today, but by 2 :00 we were home and now hiding in the house wishing I was on a lake! ..Do..
Thanks for your comment, Do! Hopefully it cools down your way. It’s been too hot here as well. Biking around the sea wall sounds really nice. Sending hugs <3
