Canoe Trips

Posted on March 7, 2024August 20, 2024

In the late summer and early autumn, I went on a few canoe rides with my aunt in the calm and scenic waters around Creston. Here’s a collection of photos from then.

I don’t know why, but reflections are one of my favourite things to photograph, and I was treated to a few during our outings. Fall colours and still water looked stunning in the late afternoon light; I even got one of these photos published in the local newspaper Kootenay Teen News in the December issue (last page).

Canoeing is always meditative and relaxing, and when I bring my camera along too, it’s like I’m in a front-row seat relishing the beauty around me.

ps – I’ve decided to try and write blog posts every couple weeks or so, for two to three posts released each month total, instead of once a week like I’ve been doing. I won’t be posting as regularly, but I’ll still be updating my website frequently :)

I feel the calmness as I am drawn into the beauty you captured. I found the shadow line on the mountains in the last picture interesting. Is the unevenness caused by the contours of the mountain ridge or from the sun’s rays being blocked by the Selkirk Mountains on the west side of the valley? Perhaps a combination.

It’s probably both causing the shadow, you’re right!
