To all of my readers: I am so excited to announce that I’m sharing my artwork and photography in a new way. Over the past few months and with the help of my mom and stepdad (I’m so very grateful for their support with this), I selected some of my favourite photos and art pieces and got them printed as cards, which proved to be quite the learning experience in business, printing, and work. This idea was brought forward by a lovely neighbour of ours who gave me some great insights and observations she’d had with purchasing cards. She provided feedback from a customer point of view that helped me decide on pricing, quality, and quantity of my endeavor.
First I researched for what felt like forever in order to find a printing business to work with. I settled on a company only an hour away from me that ticked off a lot of boxes: supporting local, not too expensive, and good quality. This was basically everything I wanted for my cards, with the exception of finding a more sustainable and environmentally friendly option. However, I decided that this company was the best choice to start with just to see how things went.
I contacted the business and ordered forty cards initially, which was five cards each of eight different images. I even got to add a little bio on the back of the cards. Once everything was good to go and I confirmed the proofs, the cards were ordered! Unboxing them was exciting. I think they turned out well and I’m happy with the results as a starting point.
With that explanation done, I’ll lay out all the details!
- The cards are $5.50 each or 5 cards for $25, plus shipping fees (if applicable).
- You can pick and choose, mix and match as you will for what cards you want.
- Each card comes with a white A2 envelope; the cards themselves measure 4.25 x 5.5 inches.
- Stock is shown below:
| BUTTERFLY | 1 |
| FOX | 0 |
| HEART | 1 |
| LEAF | 0 |
| MOON | 2 |
| MUSHROOM | 1 |
| REFLECTION | 0 |
| SQUIRREL | 1 |
- The inside of the cards is blank, and the back is mostly blank as well except for a small bio at the bottom.
- I’m able to mail them to you if needed. Shipping fees will vary.
And the grand finale (and probably one of the most important parts): the photos!

Finally, I couldn’t resist…I hired a most professional model to pose strikingly with my cards.

She did an excellent job. The payment was one ball toss once we were done.

I’m looking forward to seeing where this venture takes me. I already have ideas for the future – I may look into print-on-demand, setting up an Etsy shop, and taking custom orders where you tell me what photo/art piece you want on a card, and I make it happen. I’ll keep all of you posted through my blog. Stay tuned :)
